Project Description
In 1997, Nobel Peace price winner Elie Wiesel came to Charlotte to speak "Against Indifference." During his visit he challenged our community to take action for human dignity, justice and moral courage. The Echo Foundation answered his call. Ten years later, Echo continues its work to fulfill this mission by educating the community on the most urgent humanitarian issues of our time and by encouraging individual initiatives that affect positive change. As we celebrate our 10th Anniversary, Prof. Wiesel will return to Charlotte for our 2007 "Voices Against Indifference Initiative," a comprehensive educational program that will include a dialogue with area high school students and a public lecture delivered at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. More information on the project's educational components is available here.
