In the Footsteps of Elie Wiesel

In this age of globalization, it is vital that young people expand their knowledge, heighten their sensitivity, and broaden their awareness of critical world issues so that they develop into informed, compassionate adults. The Echo Foundation’s unique travel and leadership initiative, In the Footsteps of Elie Wiesel gave high school students the extraordinary opportunity to experience the formative environments that have shaped one of the foremost humanitarian leaders of our time, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Elie Wiesel. Our Footsteps Ambassadors traced the path of Professor Wiesel from his birthplace in Sighet, Romania, to the death camps of Auschwitz in Poland, to Versailles, France where he was given refuge as an orphan. Additionally, they visited Berlin, Germany where the process of reparation and relationship healing with the Jewish people has resulted in an extraordinary model of understanding and friendship in modern times.
