The Echo Children's Library
|
During their trip to Rwanda in July 2010,
Echo’s six Student Ambassadors put the finishing touches on the
newly-constructed Echo Children's Library. Working with Rwandans, the
Ambassadors varnished the table, chairs and shelves, and organized,
labeled and shelved the 1,500 books collected by our partners in North
Carolina and shipped to Rwinkwavu. It is the first primary school
library in Rwanda.
As the students and teachers strive to
learn English following a 2008 government mandate declaring that
education be provided in English instead of French, the Echo
Children’s Library will serve as a valuable resource for the entire
community of Rwinkwavu.
